Vince on the Yesterday's Tomorrow Today podcast
Main Post:
Hey all - Former BCS editor here (co editor of Bagman, editor of season 6 premiere and the Nacho episode 603). You may also recognize me from the background of a lot of BCS Insider recordings - Vince was nice enough to guest on my podcast Yesterday's Tomorrow Today where we talk about movies that were set in the future at the time of their release but we have already lived past them. Vince brought a little movie called NO ESCAPE starring Ray Liotta. I know it's not strictly BCS related but If you need a Vince fix and you love expired sci fi be sure to check us out!
Writers Tom Schnauz, Gordon Smith and Jenn Carroll from BB/BCS as well as Chris McCaleb also have recorded with us last season. Gotta love putting co workers on the spot and asking them to be on your shows :)
Top Comment: Thanks for posting and putting your podcast on my radar as I love deep dives/analysis of films. Also thank you for your insights and work on the BCS Insider podcast, which was truly unique. I have a few questions/observations related to your great editing work on specific BCS episodes: BAGMAN - I spotted the multiple cinematographic homages to Lawrence of Arabia as I’ve documented in this sub here and here and here and am curious if, based on your editing involvement, do you recall any others to that film? S6E3: I caught the wonderful Leone/Tarantino homage S4E8/Coushatta, I noted that Pastor Hansford’s description to ADA Ericsen of Huell’s heroic rescue actions in a burning building mimics Pompey’s rescue of Tom Doniphon in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance . Coincidentally the portrayal of a despondent Chuck at the end of S3E1/Lantern seems inspired by that of a despondent Doniphon (slumped in chair, lantern, flames, etc.) before being rescued by Pompey in that movie, and SABROSITO has a scene with Francesca talking to someone she identifies as “Ms. Vallance” on the phone. Plenty of John Ford vibes! El Camino: Near the end, the overhead/tracking of Ed's truck winding through heavily-forested roads and then the wide shots of Jesse driving towards snow-covered mountains in the distance seemed inspired by very similar shots of the opening credits of Kubrick's The Shining. Thank you.

This story always makes me sick to my stomach.
With today's announcement, Vince Carter officially has more franchises retiring his jersey than playoff series wins as a Toronto Raptor
Main Post:
Let's go over the Raptors success under Vince Carter:
1998/99 - Missed the playoffs; Vince wins RotY
99/00 - Made the playoffs, lost to the Knicks in a sweep
00/01 - Made the playoffs, won vs the Knicks in 5, lost to the 76ers in a controversial Game 7
01/02 - Vince was injured and the team made the postseason without him via an unexpected turnaround; they lost in 5 to the Pistons
02/03 - Missed the playoffs; Vince suggested that the recently drafted Bosh should be traded
03/04 - Missed the playoffs
04/05 - Vince did not finish the season as a Raptor to see them miss the playoffs, as he was traded in December (Among other events, he assaulted his coach during the leadup to the Nets trade)
None of Vince's seasons with Toronto managed to crack 50 wins in one of the weakest eras for the Eastern Conference.
Top Comment: i can tell raptors fans are really loving this

Top Comment: So, my podcast queue has JJGo first and MFM second. The two podcast images next to each other mean that Georgia and Karen are looking sideways at Vince. I assume they’re thinking, “Jordan and Jesse already got Steven. Now they’ve grabbed Vince, too? Who’s next?”

Saw him when I was in college once. I was walking by the FAC and he was coming the other way. He and I were the exact same height and I just remembered thinking, "where do I know this guy from?" I think I might have stared too long because he just gave me this look like I was a total weirdo.
